Free Tip - Attach Database

The recommended practice for building database solutions in Microsoft Access is to place the program component (forms, queries, reports, etc.) in one file and the data in another, and "attach" the data file to the program file. The problem is that if the data file is moved, or the program file is moved so the path to the data is different, the attachments will become broken. The Attach Database tool helps Access programmers solve this problem. This Access form, which you can place in your projects, makes it easy to re-attach to all of the tables in the data file by simply selecting the data file with the Open File dialog. Download this useful tool for free, and put this feature to use in your application. Download Now!

Enviro Software News - Update on New Enviro Features

New Enviro Data Features

Geotech is in the process of rolling out a new version of Enviro Data called 2008G. This version has many new useful features relative to the previous major release, 2008F. Here are just a few of the features:

Enviro Data Feature - Upgraded Map Display Tool

Many of our Enviro Data clients find the internal map display a useful way to see the spatial distribution of their data without the time and effort (and sometimes expense) of using an external mapping program. We're putting the finishing touches on a major upgrade to the Map Display tool. We are converting from MapObjects (ESRI) to GeoObjects (Blue Marble). This is already providing some big benefits, and opens up the potential for more map-based enhancements in the future. First, the new map form now works correctly in Vista and Windows 7. Second, we have added a feature to double click on a station on a map to bring up additional information about that station. And finally, we can now support a much longer list of vector map and image map formats. It will also be possible to add features down the road, including map-based selections, coordinate projections, display of contours for external applications like Surfer, and so on. If you have any questions call us at (303) 740-1999.

Enviro Data Feature - Most Recent Samples

An enhancement has been added to the  Enviro Data Viewer Select Data form. Now, you can select all of your most recent samples by simply choosing Most Recent from the Sample Group pulldown list. Additional criteria may also be applied to further refine the data selection, such as adding a date range as illustrated in the screenshot. Printing a list of your Most recent samples is easy too. Just run the new Most Recent Samples report.

New Enviro Spase feature - Color Coded Callouts

Our folks are working hard on Enviro Spase as well as Enviro Data. One useful new feature builds on our very popular Callout and Crosstab Callout Wizards. Now for both, you can automatically color the background of the callout boxes to suit your project needs. The colors are based on the existing Station Groups feature in Enviro Data, that lets you create whatever groups you want and assign any stations to those groups. Groups can now have colors assigned, and Enviro Spase can use that to set the background color.

Enviro Software Success Story - County Water Quality Department

Geotech recently received this note from a happy customer. We wanted to share it with you.

"My agency is tasked with monitoring surface and ground water in our County.  Our monitoring results are required to be submitted to regulatory agencies and are made public via a web mapping site.  We have used Geotech Computer Systems' off-the-shelf environmental software to manage our data for almost 10 years.  I have found it essential for handling monitoring results and providing professional looking reports.  Their Enviro Data database and Enviro Spase GIS interface are tools that easily allow us to import new analytical results, prepare quick and readily understandable reports, prepare maps and to upload these results to regulatory agencies.  Geotech’s programs integrate closely with other vendor’s programs including Surfer for preparing contour maps, ArcGIS for GIS applications and our laboratory’s information management system.  Their programs are easy to understand and use, yet powerful.  It only takes a few minutes to teach new users to produce complex graphs and tables.  When issues arise, as they do with all software, Geotech’s technical support is always available and quick to help, going out of their way to provide solutions.  It would be difficult to manage our monitoring program without Geotech Computer Systems."

Let Geotech turn you into our next Success Story. For more information on our eDMR feature, call us at (303) 740-1999.

Environmental Humor

What is global warming?  If it is hot gas getting trapped inside our ozone, one might wonder why it doesn’t just go out through the hole in the ozone layer.

Another thought is, once the temperature begins to climb too high, we could dramatically lower the temperature by simply switching form Fahrenheit to Celsius.

By 2070 the hole in the ozone layer over Antarctica could be largely fixed.  The only drawback is they can’t find a cheap enough scaffold to quote for the job…..

Quarterly Special - Custom Pricing

With the economy coming back ever so slowly, Geotech realizes that while budgets are being cut, production must continue to increase.   We understand that it is difficult to do both of these tasks at the same time, and would like to offer a solution.  That is why Geotech offers custom pricing.  We evaluate individual project needs and customize an implementation to fit your budget. Geotech has been in the industry for over 20 years and understands what it takes to make projects successful. We take the time to listen and understand what is expected of our software, and offer an inexpensive, low risk solution. Smart Moves in Tough Times - Enviro Data Viewer

Everyone needs to save time and money on their projects. That's what Geotech's Enviro software is all about. Now Geotech has a new tool to help you get the most from your data management investment. We're proud to announce the Enviro Data Viewer, which lets users view but not modify the data in Enviro Data. This new software is perfect for project staff, managers, and even clients, who may need to view reports, graphs and maps, but not import and edit data. It costs a lot less than adding a full Enviro Data license, and lets you make your data available to others who could use it. Contact Geotech for details at 877-740-1999 (Toll-Free).
