Free Database Comparison Tool for Access

Have you ever ended up with two copies of an Access database file, and you didn't know which had your most recent modifications?  This can be a real problem, and it is only made worse when multiple people are working on the file.  For this reason, Geotech has developed a CompareDB tool, that allows you to identify the latest version of each object.

The CompareDB tool was developed as an Access project.  The input is your two .mdb files.  The output is a report detailing all of the objects in both files, and identifying the latest version of each object.  This report can be printed or displayed on the screen.

Simply select the two files to be compared, and then hit the "Compare Files" button.  It is that easy!  And better yet, it is completely free.  Click here to download Geotech's CompareDB tool for Access 97.  For Access 2000 and XP, click here.  Documentation on the tool is contained in the .zip file.  Please note that the test databases require a password, to show that the CompareDB tool can be used with password protected databases.  The password, which is also found in the documentation, is: "pw".
